October ISRM Student Network Academic Workshop - Wicked Problems

October’s ISRM Student Network Academic Workshop will look at Rittel and Webber’s seminal 1973 paper on Wicked Problems.

Starting from the assumption that there were a class of problems that were not open to definitive solutions (‘wicked’ in this sense means ‘non-rational’ rather than ‘evil’), Rittel and Webber developed Ten Principles of Wicked Problems that identify their defining characteristics.

Although written almost fifty years ago, the paper describes almost exactly not only the range of wicked problems that we are facing today but the challenges that they create for strategic planners and decision makers across the world, whether in government ministries, city management or global corporations.

Join us for an in-depth discussion that will allow you to compare notes and share your thoughts with a global community of security, risk and crisis management students from around the world.

The session is open to all and you can register here.
