Major events, and even more so mega events, are the supreme test of any strategic planner. They demand the integration of hundreds - and often thousands – of separate components, each of which have critical importance, and which can create dependency trails that means that a delay in one part of the planning and development process can have cascading consequences that can impact on the entire development programme.
These challenges are often beyond anything which the individual planner, organising committees and even national governance frameworks have experienced before, and all taking place in an environment characterised by time pressure, competing priorities, unexpected problems and the need the balance the needs of multiple stakeholders, both internal and external. This UK-government regulated Level 5 Management Award programme has been designed to allow event planners to gain a comprehensive understanding of both the basic principles and the advanced planning models associated with major and mega event planning, and will give them a wide range of templates that can be used as the foundations of their own planning operations, whatever the size and scope of the event they are responsible for.
